The 43rd Annual Riverbend Art Festival will take place in Atchison, Kansas adjacent to the beautiful Downtown Atchison Mall May 24 and 25 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. This outdoor festival affords artists an opportunity to display and sell their works in a festive market atmosphere. The fair brings artists from a five state region displaying and selling their artwork in a variety of media including painting, graphics, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry, art in fiber glass, metal, wood, and paper. All artists must be juried into the show and are judged for cash awards to be presented at a ceremony on Saturday evening.

the Muchnic Gallery through June 29, 2008.
Entertainment
There will be lots going on for the children this year. The children's art tent will offer artistic experiences throughout both days. Sidewalk art will be ongoing.
Atchison Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will cut the ribbon at ten on Saturday and be on hand with other volunteers to help throughout the weekend. Musical performances entertain throughout the weekend representing a cross section of styles including gospel and blues, classical, folk, Celtic and soft rock.
Come and enjoy shape note singing, poetry, celtic music, and some good oldtime rock and roll! The performers this year are diverse and many have regional and national exposure as part of the of the great plains music scene.

Eligibility
Artists, professional and amateur, demonstrating quality work are eligible.
Artists who have not exhibited in Riverbend before must submit three 35mm slides, photos,
digital files or access to a web site representing their work.
Identify images with the artist’s name, media and size of work.
Please provide images of most recent/current work.
Include SASE for return of slides or photos.
Placement of artists is on a first-received/first placed basis.
No priority placement given. If you wish to register for this year's fair,
please fill out a downloadable mail-in registration form.
Media
Paintings, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry, fiber art, glass, metalwork,
wood and paper forms are all acceptable media. All work must be original and created by the artist.
Artists found to be displaying works made from kits or commercial patterns, or displaying work
non-representative of their slides will be rejected from the show with no refund.
Awards
Cash awards will consist of:
$500 Best of Show
$250 Second Place
Five Merit Awards of $100 each.
Judging begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Saturday Night Artists' Mixer
The mixer begins at 5:30 p.m. Awards are presented in a setting allowing artists and
their guests to relax, network and visit with the Riverbend volunteers.
Dinner and a selection of beverages, including wine and frozen margaritas, is provided.
No charge for artists and their guests.
